City Walk | Dubai's Urban Destination

Updated: Jul 29, 2022

In a city like Dubai, which literally offers an experience for every type of visitor, I find it very easy to get lost in the charms, beyond the glitter and luxury. Although I live only 1 hour away, I always love to visit Dubai with my “tourist” glasses, and explore new destinations and unique things to do. This time, I explored City Walk Dubai, located in the affluent Jumeirah community.

Developed by the same group as La Mer, City Walk Dubai is an urban lifestyle destination, and designed in a way to resemble those European-style shopping streets, with a wide range of shopping, dining, entertainment, wellness and even residential and commercial spots. The development’s location is perfectly nestled among the striking skyscraper backdrops, including the Burj Khalifa, which make it an ideal place to spend an afternoon (while we still enjoy this incredible weather).

Scattered along almost 1 million square feet, City Walk Dubai, is an unmissable sight, most notably it’s plaza centre point which is signified by a striking water feature. BLK CAB Coffee, Bubo Barcelona, Saladicious Grillz, Serendipity 3, and Sugar Factory are among the unique collection of dining concepts, some of which offer al fresco seating, which is perfect for cooler temperatures like now :).

There are quirky pop up stands like Turkish ice cream, L’Occitane, Dri Dri’s gelato truck, mini pancakes and fresh juices scattered along the complex, which add to the charms of City Walk. One of my favourite parts is the Chocolate Boutique, where you can play “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at Bulgari’s shop … click here to see what I mean;)

City Walk Dubai has some great entertainment options like Hub Zero, which features fun rides for the kids, and The Green Planet, a closed ecosystem, which gives visitors an up close experience of over 3,000 forms of plants and animals who live in the rain forests. An absolutely unmissable sight is none other than the Hareem Al Sultan exhibit. Yes ladies, you read that right. Dedicated to the Turkish series which took over pop culture a few years ago, the exhibition displays everything from costumes to weapons and of course sparkling jewelry. Visitors can also enjoy the scents of the palace, the tastes of the sweets served, and even hear poems from Sultan Suleiman! (Note: in case you are wondering, yes I’m a die hard fan of the series and have watched it 3 times in 2 languages – Turkish and Arabic).

Another bonus point, City Walk Dubai is located in very close proximity to La Mer (approx 15 mins by car), and is a great combination to spend a fun filled day when visiting Dubai.

xo,

Marina
